Pineland’s Aged Cheddars win Gold and Bronze Medals at the 2023 ACS Competition

Our Cheesemakers did it again!  At the 2023 American Cheese Society (ACS) Judging and Competition Pineland brought home both a Gold and Bronze medal.  The ACS competition is the largest event of its kind for American-made cheeses.

Pineland Farms’ Reserve Cheddar, Aged 2 Years brought home the First Place Gold Medal.  A judge’s comments, “a good representation of a nice cheddar with slight fruitiness, a bit of broth, buttery, and a sharpness that lingers.”  Another Reserve Cheddar that was Aged 2+ Years brought home the Third Place Bronze Medal.  Judges commented that this cheese had “overall slightly crumbly body and fruity flavor” and “a slightly sharp cheddar with hints of fruit, broth, toast with a long finish.”

Mark Whitney, President, in congratulating the Cheesemakers stated “This is a very big win.  Cheddar is traditionally the most difficult category, as so many extremely well-known and excellent cheeses usually sweep this class.  The fact that we can stand out and win speaks volumes about our quality and craftsmanship.  I know that sometimes the day to day grind can take a toll, but this is a reminder that we can be proud of what we do here and what we have accomplished.  Well done, everyone!”
